Eat, Pray, Dive - Day 29

Up and dressed and Carmel (Mrs J senior) popped in for a chat, they'd arrived back from their travels the night before. Rach, Jack, Mrs J and I hopped on the golf buggy and Jack expertly drove us down to see Eckhard. After we drove back up Rach and I got out the new Christmas tree. Even between us we couldn't lift the box so goodness knows how Damo got it into the car and house on his own! We took the tree piece by piece to reassemble it opposite the front door. We had to move the buffet and as we I'd so a pretty little gecko ran up the wall. He looked like a aboriginal dot painting, Rachael captured him and put him outside where the dogs wouldn't find him. Christmas tree swiftly assembled and all in working order (integrated lights) I knuckled down to some PADI Revision, after a good two to three hours worked I passed the self test with 100% and printed out my certificate and Medical Form/Disclaimer ready for the morning. Disclaimers always make me laugh - not sure why they don't just say "Diving can kill you, if it does sign this to agree it's your own fault". At just after 4pm we headed out in the car. Rachael didn't want yo drive so I drove her car in (nervously as I feel more comfortable wrecking a hire car than one belonging to friends and family - still smarting from dinging Mum's new car a few years ago - sorry Mum!!). We drove to Eat Street Markets, an old wharf thats been turned in to a venue with a few shops and stacks of food stalls in old shipping containers, there are also entertainment areas, with music, movies, films etc. You pay $2.50 to get in and pretty much every type of food is represented. We met Mr&Mrs J there and soon after Damo and Jack arrived from training. Adrian and Eckhard chose Greek (lamb skewers and feta chips with a beer), Rach Damo and Jack had Mexican, Jan had spiral fries and Carmel had a whisky basted pork dish with rice. After tasting a few things (loucomades, Transylvanian pastry type pizza), I plumped for an Argentinian sausage/hot dog affair with salad and a soft drink. We wanted ice cream for pudding but couldn't see any straight gelato so in the end I went for a "Billionaire Milky Bun" - Lindt chocolate and Ferraro Rocher ice cream duo sandwiched inside a brioche bun, covered in chocolate sauce with a Nutella syringe on the side - it was truly awful so I ate the ice cream from the middle and left the rest. Jack and Eckhard meanwhile had a unicrom (ice cream in rainbow colours, in a cronut (mix between a croissants and a donut) cone with a marshmallow horn to top it off. Driving Rachael's car home slowly I got overtaken by Damo 2 miles from home so our plan to get home first and turn on the Christmas tree lights failed! I tried to do a bit more PADI revision before bed but iPad ran out of gas, so I went to sleep
